Episode Three- Aldona Watts

This interview originally aired live on Saturday November 23rd, 2013 for Women Hold Up Half the Sky on KALX Berkeley 90.7

Aldona Watts is a San Francisco born film-maker who is currently in post-production for her first feature-length documentary film, Land of Songs. The film follows five grandmothers in a small Lithuanian village who are the last in a long line of traditional folk singers. In this interview, we spoke about Aldona's connection to her Lithuanian heritage, the modern history of Lithuania and its current state of affairs, and the beautiful and haunting songs that the grandmothers sing.
